The Regency era dominated TV screens during the week of May 17-23, as “Bridgerton” took not one, not two, but three top spots on Luminate’s weekly streaming ranking charts.
In its first full week of availability, Season 3 Part 1 of the Shonda Rhimes-produced Netflix series hit 2.3 billion minutes watched, the No. 1 title by far. Season 1 took second place with 498.6 million minutes watched, followed by Season 2 with 434 million minutes watched. It’s clear that “Bridgerton” will continue to dominate streaming rankings for weeks to come, not only because of the show’s obvious popularity, but because Season 3 still has four episodes yet to come on June 13.
Two titles tied as the next-most-watched of the week: Season 2 of Amazon Prime Video's "Outer Range," which was the No. 4 TV series, and Netflix's "Mother of the Bride," the top movie. Both were watched for 256.4 million minutes in their first full weeks of availability.

While “Bridgerton” Season 3 has lit the internet aflame since its debut, Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton’s journey to lead the Netflix drama’s third season has been several years in the making.
“We found out during Season 2,” Newton told TheWrap of learning his character, Colin Bridgerton, would lead Season 3 alongside Coughlan’s Penelope Featherington. “We got to take a step back, enjoy where our characters went throughout Season 2, but also prepare ourselves and see how everyone else had done it [and] experience what they were going through in that moment as well.”
Luckily, Newton could lean on his on-screen brother Jonathan Bailey, who led Season 2 as Anthony Bridgerton opposite Simone Ashley, who played Kate Sharma. “He was there for me throughout the process of Season 3,” Newton said, noting his gratitude. “It feels like we have that sort of brotherly bond that you see in the show — I felt very connected to that.

The main character of the new season of Bridgerton is Penelope Featherington. But there is no bright spot in Penelope's life. Both of her sisters have married, and the girl is forced to listen to their mockery of the fact that she will remain an old maid.
Pen has been a fan favorite for the past two seasons, but as the focus shifted to her, the audience's love for her grew even more. If you have already watched the first part of the third season of Bridgerton and were fascinated by Nicola Coughlan, who plays Pen, then you will definitely be interested in another project where she plays one of the main roles.
On Netflix, you can find one of the most critically acclaimed British dramedies of recent years (99% on Rotten Tomatoes) starring Nicola Coughlan — a historical series about the military conflict in Northern Ireland called Derry Girls.

While Game of Thrones saw the most online backlash for its biggest slip in the form of a Starbucks cup in one of the final season’s scenes (which went hilariously viral), this show isn’t by far the worst immersion violator. We’re sorry to be pointing fingers but dear Bridgerton fans, your favorite period drama has been going unpunished for its crimes against historical accuracy for way too long!
Bridgerton Girls Are Way Ahead of Their Time
The one thing that’s the most immersion-breaking and yet happens in every single episode of Bridgerton is its female characters’ looks. The TV show is set in the early 1800s, but the Bridgerton girls are not aware of that, floating around with highlights, contour, and even false eyelashes. Falsies in the 1800s, for crying out loud!
But falsies aside, there was an even more blatant and in-the-face issue just now...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Bridgerton Season 3 Part 1.] If you’re a Bridgerton fan, you’ve more than likely seen Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin’s (Luke Newton) now-iconic carriage scene, set to the instrumental tune of Pitbull‘s “Give Me Everything,” at least once (or maybe a couple dozen times). And while fans have enjoyed the iteration delivered in the series, showrunner Jess Brownell notes there are big changes compared to the scene fans read in Julia Quinn’s book Romancing Mister Bridgerton. “There’s this carriage moment in the book, [and] it’s the moment that Colin realizes Penelope’s Lady Whistledown and they share an intimate moment,” Brownell notes. “For us, it felt too early in the season for Colin to realize she was Whistledown.” Netflix Still, Brownell and the creative team didn’t want to discard the moment or concept. “We wanted to honor the fact that it’s the first time...

Tko Holdings has merged the live event groups of its two combat sports leagues into the “Tko Live Events Strategy Team.”
Is the UFC about to follow WWE to a new streaming home? The latest move by the parent company of the two combat sports promotions leaves the door open for that particular question. Tko Holdings, which operates UFC and WWE, has decided to combine the live events groups of both into a single entity, which will be called the “Tko Live Events Strategy Team.” This will allow the company to more closely coordinate events from WWE and UFC, but it could also presage a move to Netflix for UFC events, as the world’s largest streamer recently struck a deal with WWE to air live episodes of “Raw” each week.
Key Details: WWE and UFC events will likely air on the same weekends thanks to the combination of the two live events groups.

The first part of the third season of Bridgerton has been released on Netflix, telling the love story of Colin and Penelope.
In an attempt to understand the diversity of personalities in Bridgerton, we have ranked the main characters of the series — from the most dominant Bridgerton to the real Mr. Charming.
5. Anthony Bridgerton
Anthony Bridgerton's self-confidence and stubbornness almost made him the main antagonist of the first season — it seems that the Viscount did everything he could to prevent Daphne from marrying the Duke of Hastings.
Anthony's desire to keep everything under control does not always benefit the rest of the Bridgerton family, especially the brothers, who at the age of thirty are capable of making important life decisions on their own. Fortunately, in the second season, Anthony meets Kate Sharma, who, if does not make him any less domineering, at least softens his overly harsh temper.

English actor Luke Thompson is part of the main cast of Netflix’s historical romance series Bridgerton. Thompson is known for playing Benedict Bridgerton, the second child of the Bridgertons. Throughout the show’s three-season run, audiences have watched the character evolve in his romances and find his place in life. Although the character has yet to find what he truly wants, he’s unarguably the coolest and most approachable of the older Bridgerton siblings. While the role is the biggest and most popular of Luke Thompson’s acting career, the charisma with which he plays the character has endeared him to viewers. Here

The finale of Shōgun pushed the series to its best showing so far on Nielsen’s streaming charts.
The FX-produced Hulu series had 608 million minutes of viewing time for the week of its finale, April 22-28. That’s a 45 percent jump from the prior week and Shōgun’s highest total in the nine weeks it has made the top 10. Its previous best was 513 million minutes for its premiere week, which featured the debut of two episodes.
Fallout claimed the overall No. 1 spot for the third straight week, the first such streak for a show on Amazon’s Prime Video. The series had 1.53 billion minutes of viewing, down by about 41 percent week to week. Its three-week total is now a little over 7 billion minutes.

Fallout was still blowing all its streaming competition out of the water in its third week of release.
From April 22 to 28, the video game adaptation scored 1.5B viewing minutes across all eight episodes, according to Nielsen’s streaming report. While that was down a hefty billion minutes from the week before, it was pretty comfortably above basically everything else on streaming that week.
It’s now the only Prime Video series to ever be in the top spot on Nielsen’s streaming list three times, consecutively or otherwise. Not even mega-hit Reacher managed that.
Second and third place went to, shocker, Bluey and Grey’s Anatomy. Both reached over 1B viewing minutes once again.
Meanwhile, buzz for Baby Reindeer was still growing as the Netflix series saw a 36% boost in viewership to No. 5 overall (up from No. 9 the week prior) with 915M viewing minutes.

This One Change in Bridgerton Season 3 Makes Penelope's Storyline Better - Main Image
Bridgerton Season 3 Part 1 finally dropped last week; if you're a fan of the books, you might have noticed a big difference in Penelope's storyline in the Netflix Series. This season, adapted from Julia Quinn’s beloved series, focuses on the fourth book, Romancing Mr. Bridgerton.
While adaptations often introduce changes, Bridgerton Season 3 has made a particularly striking one that enhances the story meaningfully.

Major Story Arc Removed in Bridgerton Season 3
The third season of Bridgerton, featuring Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton as co-leads, finally grants Lady Whistledown herself, Penelope Featherington, a chance at love. For a moment in Bridgerton Season 3, it feels like hope is lost for Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd). In Episode 3, she learns Lord Samadani (David Mumeni), the aristocrat Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) has handpicked for her “sparkler,” dreams of Francesca’s nightmare — having a family with eight boisterous children.
And then, amid the darkness of the Innovation Ball grounds, a beacon of light shines through. It’s Lord John Stirling, the Earl of Kilmartin, played by Bridgerton newcomer Victor Alli. John would like nothing more than to “enjoy the silence” of the night with Francesca. Her relief — and joy — is palpable, as is John’s. This is the start of a romance no one in Mayfair, not even lovingly meddling mama Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell), could have predicted.

One of the things viewers love most about Bridgerton is the way the show doesn't stick to the historically accurate elements and allows itself to lean more into modernity for the sake of being more relatable to viewers and the story's narrative.
From the famous instrumental covers of today's most popular songs used to highlight important moments, to the costume details, there are many things that would have been completely unfamiliar to the actual Regency aristocracy, but have found new meaning in the Bridgerton universe.
Cressida Cowper’s Redemption Arc in Season 3
One of the characters whose appearance has always raised a lot of questions is Cressida Cowper, who was previously known as the show's biggest mean girl and bully, but has started to get more of a backstory this season. As her story progresses, the clothes she wears become more and more hideous.

Even though Bridgerton season 3 hasn't been released yet, fans are already excited to find out who will be the next lead of the show. With filming rumored to begin on June 10, the public will likely find out the details either right before or right after the premiere of part 2. However, many have already made up their minds.

The advent of streaming television a little over a decade ago changed TV forever. One of those was the idea of releasing entire television seasons simultaneously.
Traditionally, on network television, TV series have been released one episode a week throughout their season.
HBO and other premium cable networks have also released one episode a week, although the seasons are usually shorter.
However, when Netflix debuted its first significant prestige series, House of Cards, in 2013, it released every episode simultaneously.
For several years after that, Netflix released nearly all of its shows that way.
As other streaming services rose to compete with Netflix, they used different models.
Max, for instance, has retained HBO's traditional model of usually one episode per week.
Ironically, during this era, whole seasons of The Sopranos, Sex and the City, and other shows were released on DVD at once, likely encouraging the binge-watching habit.

School history lessons often skipped the juicy bits of world history, but fortunately, the entertainment industry loves to surprise us. Here are ten must-watch historical dramas for any fan of the genre, all binge-watchable and ready to fill the void Droughtlander left in us.
Visual allure is undeniable in popular series like Outlander and Bridgerton, where the opulence of lavish sets and meticulously crafted period costumes often outweigh practicality.
Creators of historical dramas vary in their approach to authenticity. Some prioritize high realism, enhancing the credibility of narratives, even in fantastical series involving time travel like Outlander.
Others believe in the importance of entertainment value over strict historical accuracy, arguing that dramatic embellishments are essential for engaging storytelling. In this view, historical accuracy serves more as a framework for timeless human stories.
However, even those series that boast of being based on real events do not always stick faithfully to historical facts.

Some folks prefer to spend their TV hours soaking up procedural dramas.
Others prefer a soapy historical fiction.
As for me, I will die on the hill that the mockumentary-style sitcom is the best genre on television.
There's no way to discuss every masterpiece, so we'll focus on a few examples of mockumentary shows.
Why do they work?
Let me count the ways. First, it's the absence of the fourth wall for me.
There's something special about creating a universe with characters and ever-so-slightly unrealistic situations and making your audience feel like they're part of it.
Take The Office, for example. When Jim looks directly into the camera after Michael or someone says something absurd, we get to be in on the joke.
Instead of being spectators stuck on the other side of the screen, it's like we're transported into the bullpen, nodding in understanding as Jim stares down the lens.

Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) steps away from the world of wallflowers and into the spotlight in Bridgerton Season 3. As Penelope embarks on a mission to marry, she has a style metamorphosis. In the first episode of Part 1, Penelope steps out in a stunning, one-of-a-kind emerald green gown, unlike anything she (or anyone else) has worn before. TV Insider spoke with Bridgerton costume designer John Glaser and hair and makeup artist Erika Okvist about Penelope’s Season 3 makeover. “It was chosen for a lot of reasons,” Glaser said about Penelope’s emerald green dress. “One, is that we followed Erika’s hair color. If you look at that dress, the inner layers are copper and teal, and we didn’t want to give up her connection to the Featherington colors right away. It’s also something that the modiste helped her pick, so the modiste would have held on to the old Featherington colors.

Imagine you’re walking the perfectly manicured streets of Grosvenor Square in London. The homes are gilded, the pedestrians are well-heeled, and … it’s 1813. Bridgerton Season 1 opens the doors of these alluring houses, allowing a peek inside the drawing rooms (and bedrooms) of the highborn.

Even though season 3 of Bridgerton premiered less than a week ago, the show has already gone viral again and destroyed the Netflix charts. This time around, Bridgerton is taking a break before returning on June 13th with the final 4 episodes. And fans are using this time wisely, analyzing every scene of the show.
While there are a variety of subplots, from the Mondrich family's unexpected news to Eloise's new friendship with Cressida Cowper, two main characters are at the center of attention. Lord Pitbull has officially joined the ton. Last week, Netflix premiered the first four episodes from Bridgerton‘s highly-anticipated third season, which centers its plot around Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington. Their slow-burning, friends-to-lovers romance reaches a heated point in the back of a carriage during that fourth episode — and the pivotal moment is soundtracked by an orchestral version of Pitbull‘s 2011 hit single “Give Me Everything.”

Pitbull reacted on Tuesday to his song’s feature in Bridgerton‘s carriage scene, which hit Netflix along with the first half of season three last week.
“This again shows the world how music is the international language that transcends over boundaries,” Mr. Worldwide wrote on Instagram beneath a clip of the scene.
Netflix’s Bridgerton has featured instrumental covers of hit pop songs since season one. Part 1 of season three included titles from BTS, Nick Jonas, Sia, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift and more. In episode four, a cover of Pitbull’s “Give Me Everything” featuring Ne-Yo and Afrojack played during a carriage sex scene with stars Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan).

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Bridgerton Season 3 Part 1.] Bridgerton‘s universe continued to expand in Part 1 of the show’s long-anticipated third season as the Ton introduced Lord Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis) and John Stirling (Victor Alli), the latter a character plucked from the pages of Julia Quinn’s novels. Meanwhile, Marcus is a show creation, introduced as Lady Danbury’s (Adjoa Andoh) younger brother. But he’s more than merely a sibling as sparks fly between him and Lady Danbury’s bestie Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell). “Both aspects, being a brother and being a lover at the same time, it’s wonderful,” Francis gushes. “But I think for me, with Marcus, it’s such a genuine desire to experience true love. He hasn’t had that.” Liam Daniel/Netflix Marcus told Violet of his first marriage, noting that while he and his wife cared for each other, it wasn’t a love match, whereas...

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from Season 3, Part 1 of Netflix’s Bridgerton.
Bridgerton fans were more than ready to see Penelope and Colin’s love story unfold in Season 3 of the Netflix series, but little did they know that Polin wouldn’t be the only courtship in the Bridgerton household this season.
Audiences were surely surprised by the introduction of John Stirling, Earl of Kilmartin (Victor Alli) in Episode 3 as a love interest for Francesca (Hannah Dodd). Book readers will know John from the sixth novel in Julia Quinn’s series, When He Was Wicked.
In the novel, John serves a pivotal role in Francesca’s ultimate journey, to put it one way. No spoilers here, but there are below.
Deadline spoke with series newcomer Victor Alli about playing the much-anticipated Earl and what to expect from John and Francesca in the remainder of the season. Part 2 of Bridgerton...

The third season of Bridgerton recorded the show’s biggest opening weekend to date.
According to Netflix’s internal rankings, the first half of season three racked up 45.05 million views (total hours watched divided by running time) worldwide after its May 16 premiere. That’s about 165.2 million hours of viewing time.
By comparison, season two debuted in March 2022 with just more than 193 million hours of viewing time globally — but that was for a full season, with a running time more than twice as long as the first half of the current season. Thus its opening weekend view count is around 22.7 million. Season two also had a three-day opening period vs. four for the current run, but one extra day only accounts for a small part of season three’s lead. (Netflix didn’t publicly release weekly viewing tallies for season one.)

Word about the ton is that Bridgerton has once again enraptured Netflix audiences.
Season 3 debuted with its first four episodes last week, attracting 45.1M views — a huge audience for the Shonda Rhimes series.
It’s a bit tricky to compare with Season 2’s audience, since Netflix began reporting “views” in the interim, and it’s split this season into two parts.
The views for Season 3, Part 1 equate to around 180M hours viewed, which is less than Season 2 managed in its own premiere weekend. However, all eight episodes of Season 2 were available at once, allowing for double the runtime to collect those hours. Case in point: Season 2 drew 193M views in its debut weekend, which translated to about 24M views across all eight episodes.
Taking that into account Season 3’s performance is actually quite impressive, even for a series that was already among Netflix’s most popular of all time. It...

“Bridgerton” Season 3 is off to a steamy hot start.
The third season of the Shondaland period drama drew 45.1 million views over its first four days of availability, according to Netflix, easily finishing first on the streamer’s Global Top 10 list. Take that, Tom Brady roast.
It was the biggest week — by quite a bit — for any series on Netflix since the streamer changed its core metric from hours viewed to views in mid-June 2023.
The first four “Bridgerton” Season 3 episodes reached number 1 in 78 countries and the Top 10 in 92, Netflix said. The next four episodes premiere on June 13; try not to obsess over the big cliffhanger between now and then.
The third season of “Bridgerton” also brought the first two back to (some semblance of) their former glory. “Bridgerton” Seasons 1 and 2 both returned to Netflix’s Top 10 TV (in any language) list in the week ahead of Season 3. They did even better during Season 3’s premiere week.

Netflix has released the first half of Bridgerton season 3, a new chapter of the series about how young aristocrats find love. The new season broke the order of Julia Quinn's original novels – instead of the story of Benedict Bridgerton, we explore the relationship between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington.
Fans Want to See The Love Story of Violet & Edmund
The show spends a lot of time on the young characters and much less on the older ones. Lady Violet Bridgerton mainly helps her children and gives them advice to get settled in life. But sometimes we are shown echoes of her love story with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton, who tragically died at the age of 39 from an allergic reaction to a bee sting.
Lady Bridgerton's rare comments about her late husband are so touching and bittersweet that fans now want to see the love story of the Bridgerton parents as a separate season.

The first part of the third season of Bridgerton has been released on Netflix, and yet another wedding season is full of trouble for this family. Violet Bridgerton is still hoping someone can charm Eloise – after last year's scandal, the girl is struggling to join the company of potential brides.
And this time, the Bridgertons are introducing a new debutante – the reserved and humble Francesca.
Season 3 Puts Francesca in the Spotlight
A girl who is passionate about music has a hard time communicating with gentlemen. But history shows that you can find a soul mate even if you don't like to talk. This is another interesting plot device – Francesca has been in the background for the last two seasons.
However, as soon as John Stirling, Francesca's apparent love interest, appeared on the screen, all fan discussions were filled with comments sympathetic to this character, hinting at some kind of tragedy.

As you’ll probably know, Bridgerton is one of Netflix’s most popular series. The erotic period drama has captured the attention and imagination of many fans around the world, proving once more that sex – indeed – does sell! The series is based on the eponymous novel series by Julia Quinn, with the first season premiering on December 25, 2020. The series is currently in its third season, whose first part was released only recently, and in it, the series has continued to push boundaries like it did in previous seasons. In Season 3, Irish actress Nicola Coughlan has become one of the leads and this has caused a lot of controversy.
Namely, the former Derry Girls star has been criticized because of her appearance, and many thought that Bridgerton had gone too far with making her the female lead in Season 3, especially in light of the large number of erotic scenes in the series.
