Festival of the Living Dead is not only the latest Tubi Original, it’s the latest film from Jen and Sylvia Soska. That’s a bit of a come down for the sisters, who, after Dead Hooker in a Trunk and American Mary, were loudly proclaimed to be the future of horror. Dave Parker, who was in the same position some years back, recently used a Tubi Original, You Shouldn’t Have Let Me In to prove he can still make an entertaining film. Can the Soska Sisters do the same?
Ash and Iris are looking to do something to celebrate Ash’s birthday. Her boyfriend Kevin and some friends stop by with a birthday present, tickets to the titular Festival of the Living Dead.

Any fan of Dance Moms will recall that Maddie Ziegler was undoubtedly one of Abby Lee Miller’s favorite students. From the very first episode of the series, the choreographer championed her dancer, often putting her up on a pedestal to bring her other students down. Even after Ziegler exited the show in season 6, Miller still continued to talk about her. But talking to Ziegler would prove to be impossible since the dancer cut off communication with Miller after quitting the reality TV show.
Abby Lee Miller and Maddie Ziegler | Caroline McCredie / Stringer Maddie Ziegler didn’t have the easiest time on ‘Dance Moms’
Even though Ziegler was Miller’s star student, she couldn’t escape the toxicity of Dance Moms. Miller’s preferential treatment of the Bloody Hell star often made Ziegler the target of vitriol. Furthermore, the Aldc owner put a staggering amount of pressure on Ziegler to always win first place.

Maddie Ziegler is no stranger to performing. Fans of the entertainer will recall that she got her start in the world of competitive dance. Who am I? Where do I fit in? Am I some kind of misfit? Will I ever be an ex-virgin? Such questions surely occur to every adolescent at one point or another. But only one out of approximately every 5,000 female ones arrive at them for the same diagnostic reason as the heroine of “Bloody Hell.” Molly McGlynn’s second feature focuses on a 16-year-old distressed to discover she has a rare congenital disorder that considerably complicates her nascent sex life, formative sexual identity and indeed basic sexual plumbing. This SXSW-premiering Canadian seriocomedy is a bit less focused and effective than the writer-director’s prior “Mary Goes Round,” but it’s still accomplished, and similarly renders relatable the sometimes self-defeating behaviors of a protagonist who’s got a lot of issues on her plate.

Anyone who watched Maddie Ziegler on Dance Moms knows that she’s a perfectionist. Even as a small child, the dancer was hellbent on doing everything just right. She put an enormous amount of pressure on herself to win every competition and execute every move flawlessly. On the off chance that something went awry, it was evident that Ziegler was very frustrated and disappointed in herself. But as Ziegler has gotten older, she’s tried to fight against her perfectionist tendencies. This is especially true since she started acting in films like The Fallout.
