Netflix has debuted the first official trailer for Trigger Warning, an upcoming action thriller that stars Jessica Alba (Fantastic Four; Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer; Sin City) in the lead role as a skilled Special Forces commando who takes ownership of her father's bar after he suddenly dies, and soon finds herself at odds with a violent gang running rampant in her hometown.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Alba expressed her excitement and inspiration for making this film. "I loved Die Hard. I loved Star Wars. I loved Lethal Weapon, Beverly Hills Cop, all these movies I grew up with, but I always felt like I wanted to see the women kicking ass instead of always being saved."
In addition to Alba, the supporting cast features Mark Webber, Tone Bell, Jake Weary, Gabriel Basso, Anthony Michael Hall, Kaiwi Lyman, and Hari Dhillon.

Machete may not text but he do sequel. Director Robert Rodriguez has addressed claims by Machete himself, Danny Trejo, who said that he doubts Rodriguez even has the rights to make the threequel Machete Kills in Space.
First, some context. Trejo recently told Rob Zombie in Interview that he was under the impression that Rodriguez had sold the rights to Machete “to Russians or something,” thus halting the project permanently.
But Rodriguez quickly rebuked this, telling IndieWire that his old pal isn’t exactly up to date on his info. “I retain all the rights…We do plan to make another one, we just stopped saying that we are until we’re actually making it because of all the stories that come out saying, ‘They’re making it right now, they’re making it right now!’” With that, Rodriguez noted the connection he has to Machete, something no doubt shared by fans.

Turns out, Danny Trejo actually might be wielding a machete soon, as the eponymous franchise is still on track to be a trilogy. During a recent discussion with Rob Zombie for Interview magazine, the almost-80-year-old actor Trejo incorrectly stated that “Machete” and “Machete Kills” director Robert Rodriguez “sold part” of the franchise, and therefore it’s unlikely another will be made.
“God, I guess Robert [Rodriguez] screwed up and sold part of ‘Machete,'” Trejo said, “to Russians or something. Everyone always asks, ‘When are you doing “Machete Kills in Space?”‘” Director Zombie added that he’d love to see “Machete Kills in Space,” saying, “I thought for sure it was going to happen. It’s so ridiculous.”
However, Rodriguez exclusively told IndieWire that Trejo’s comments are thankfully “incorrect” and a third “Machete” film may still slice up cinemas soon.
“I retain all the rights,” Rodriguez told IndieWire in an email.

Curb Your Enthusiasm returns to Max this month in what’s being called the show’s final season (for now). If you’re not ready for the Larry David-centric comedy series to end, you can binge all eleven of the show’s previous seasons on Max right now before hitting the new episodes.
Tokyo Vice will also be back in February for season 2. Stars Ansel Elgort, Ken Watanabe, Rinko Kikuchi, Rachel Keller, Show Kasamatsu, and Ayumi Ito are joined by Kubozuka and Miki Maya this time around, as Jake Adelstein feels the danger closing in on him. Max also welcomes you to the premiere of the highly acclaimed (and highly depraved) Dicks: The Musical this month, as a couple of self-obsessed businessmen discover they’re identical twins and decided to bring their divorced parents back together.

In 2005 and in 2007, director Tim Story made a pair of feature films starring the Fantastic Four, one of Marvel Comics' most superlative titles. "Fantastic Four," created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, was more or less a family sitcom except the three family members and their best friend all happened to have superpowers. It was light and comedic, while also featuring bloviating, demonstrative supervillains who shouted regularly about the glories of world domination. It was a comic book series that declared itself to be The World's Greatest Comics Magazine!
Story's feature film adaptations were not very well received when they were released. 2005's "Fantastic Four" only bears a 28% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while its sequel, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," only has a 38% approval rating. Moreso, Marvel Comics fans were harsh to Story's movies, hating their cartoony tone and corny scripts. It's worth acknowledging, however, that Story's...

Eli Roth will be giving thanks once more (in the bloodiest terms possible) as Thanksgiving 2, a sequel to his holiday-themed slasher, is announced.
Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving has been doing pretty well at the box office, picking up $30m. Perhaps most impressively, it only dropped 31 percent in its second weekend, which is a pretty shallow fall in admissions for a horror movie.
Perhaps that’s because that second weekend fell across Thanksgiving, the US holiday that the slasher film is focused on. It might be that reviews have been decent as well (here’s ours) but either way, TriStar Pictures seems pleased enough, as Deadline reports that a sequel to Thanksgiving has now been confirmed.
In the film currently showing in cinemas, ‘a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorises Plymouth, Massachusetts – the birthplace of the holiday.’

Grindhouse is one of the most influential box office failures of the 21st century. Despite grossing a paltry $25.4 million at the box office on a budget of around $60 million, Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s 2007 love letter to exploitation cinema has managed to spawn four spin-off movies — Machete, Machete Kills, Hobo with a Shotgun, and now Thanksgiving— in addition to reintroducing a vintage aesthetic that has been mimicked by countless other throwback movies.
Rodriguez’s Planet Terror and Tarantino’s Death Proof each have their merits — the former plays like a satirical pastiche of nonstop action, while the latter is more indicative of genuine exploitation fare — but Grindhouse is more than just a double feature. It’s an experience, complete with faux aging to recreate the look of beat-up film prints along with vintage interstitials and retro-inspired trailers for nonexistent movies.

Danny Trejo has filed for Chapter 11 reorganization bankruptcy to pay off more than $2 million he owes to the IRS.
The actor and entrepreneur, 79, best known for his roles in “Machete Kills”, “Heat” and “Desperado”, filed back in February, according to ABC7.
His string of successful businesses, including Trejos Tacos and Trejos Coffee and Donuts, are reportedly not a part of the bankruptcy. The root of his enormous debt to the IRS is allegedly from mistakenly claiming deductions over the years.

The bankruptcy is so severe that according to documents obtained by RadarOnline, Barclays Mortgage Trust is asking the court permission to foreclose his home in Mission’s Hill, California.
The news comes after he recently announced the launch of his new non-alcoholic tequila brand, Zero Proof Tequila.

Lionsgate has nabbed global distribution for “Flight Risk,” an action-thriller starring Mark Wahlberg and directed by Mel Gibson. This will mark the first film Gibson has directed since his blockbuster ($175 million on a $40 million budget) and Oscar-nominated “Hacksaw Ridge” in 2016. The mini-major will be launching the project, featuring Wahlberg as a pilot transporting a dangerous criminal for trial, at Cannes.
“We love the undeniable electric pairing of Mel Gibson and Mark Wahlberg,” Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Joe Drake said. “These world-class talents combining for this dynamic, character-driven film will make ‘Flight Risk’ one of the most suspense-filled, must-see events of the year.”
Wahlberg and Gibson have starred in a few projects together, including “Daddy’s Home 2” and last year’s faith-based “Father Stu.” Considering the number of high-concept or true-story action movies Wahlberg has made with director Peter Berg over the last decade, it is a mild surprise that Gibson will be in charge.

After four successful movies starring one of Hollywood’s most universally adored leading men, the “John Wick” franchise is heading to TV with a far more controversial star. “The Continental,” a three-part miniseries set in the “John Wick” universe and starring Mel Gibson, will release on Peacock this September, the streamer announced Wednesday. A short teaser for the show was also released, which can be watched below.
Named after its central hero, the “John Wick” franchise revolves around a complex criminal underworld populated by colorful and deadly assassins. In the film’s universe, all assassins abide by a code in which the Continental hotel chain serves as a neutral ground for all factions. “The Continental” show is a ’70s-set prequel that tells the story of how the the Continental system was established, from the viewpoint of Winston Scott (played in the films by Ian McShane), the eventual New York City Continental owner.

This Thanksgiving, it's not just turkeys that'll be getting carved up. Horror director Eli Roth is set to follow in the footsteps of "Machete Kills" filmmaker Robert Rodriguez and "Hobo With A Shotgun" director Jason Eisener, turning the fake movie trailer he made for Rodriguez's 2007 film "Grindhouse" into a real, feature-length movie. "Thanksgiving" is now set to strut its way to theaters in time for the colonialist feast day.
While Roth has yet to drop a trailer or first footage from the movie, fans of the filmmaker probably have a good idea of what to expect from the feature-length expansion of a delightfully nasty short that left audiences laughing (and flinching) back when Rodriguez's "Grindhouse" made its debut. It's too soon to tell how much "Thanksgiving" will borrow from its source material, but as the first fiction feature co-written, directed, and produced by the "Hostel" filmmaker since 2015's Keanu Reeves-led erotic thriller,...

The path to Robert Rodriguez's "Machete" was circuitous. When Rodriguez and his friend Quentin Tarantino made their 2007 film "Grindhouse," they attempted to recreate a 1970s exploitation movie experience by providing two separate features, each one marked by missing reels, bad print jobs, and visual scratches on the print itself. "Grindhouse" also famous featured a series of previews for coming attractions that didn't exist. Edgar Wright invented a film called "Don't," while Eli Roth invented a fictional slasher movie called "Thanksgiving." Rob Zombie conceived of a horror movie called "Werewolf Women of the S.S." starring Nicolas Cage, and Rodriguez himself kicked off the "Grindhouse" experience with a fake movie called "Machete."
In the fake "Machete" preview, Danny Trejo played the title character, a vengeful Mexican mercenary, once a Federale, who gets into a series of seemingly unconnected violent shenanigans. He was also quite proficient at charming young women. Machete...

Sixteen years ago, directors Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino teamed up to bring us the awesome double feature Grindhouse – which consisted of not just Rodriguez’s movie Planet Terror and Tarantino’s movie Death Proof, but also several faux trailers made by the likes of Eli Roth, Edgar Wright, Rob Zombie, and Rodriguez himself. Roth’s faux trailer was for the slasher Thanksgiving, which is finally happening as a full feature. Rodriguez’s faux trailer was for the action movie Machete, which became a feature in 2010, and did well enough that a sequel titled Machete Kills followed in 2013. Machete Kills also had a faux trailer in it, one for another Machete sequel: Machete Kills Again… in Space. And since that faux trailer promised our hero Machete would return, fans have been clamoring for that sequel to happen for ten years now. Speaking at the SXSW film festival, Rodriguez admitted that...

TriStar Pictures has acquired Spyglass Media Group‘s “Thanksgiving,” a full-length slasher film inspired by the fake trailer from Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s double feature “Grindhouse,” according to an insider with knowledge of the project.
Roth is attached to direct the horror thriller film. “Thanksgiving” is co-written by Roth and Jeff Rendell, with Roger Birnbaum, Roth and Rendell producing.
Chatter has existed about turning the jokey trailer into an actual movie, with Roth having written a screenplay over a dozen years ago. Fantasy became fact when Spyglass stepped in late last year to finance the picture, with shooting to begin in Toronto next month.

Chatter has existed about turning the jokey trailer into an actual movie, with Roth having written a screenplay over a dozen years ago. Fantasy became fact when Spyglass stepped in late last year to finance the picture, with shooting to begin in Toronto next month.

You'd think Halloween would be the holiday that the lion's share of holiday-themed horror movies would center around. But that would have to be Christmas, which has inspired the likes of classics such as "Black Christmas," "Silent Night, Deadly Night," "Gremlins," "The Nightmare Before Christmas," the incredible "Tales From The Crypt" segment "And All Through The House," and so many more.
Maybe it's because Christmas is supposed to represent the pinnacle of goodness and charity that mucking it all up with blood, guts, and terror is just too perverse to resist. But of all the other holidays on the calendar, Thanksgiving gets my vote for the most untapped potential, horror-wise. Pilgrims? Unseasoned food? Family coming to my house? Wake me up when the nightmare is over.
While there has been a solid assortment of Thanksgiving-themed shockers over the years, from "Kristy" to "Séance" to the delightfully campy "Into The Dark" film "Pilgrim,...

When Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez teamed up for the hybrid horror crime film "From Dusk Till Dawn," audiences knew to expect a sleazy drive-in movie that was going to be filled to the brim with sight gags, bloodstained carnage, and whip-smart dialogue. The vampire action comedy featured television star George Clooney in his first major role after breaking hearts as Dr. Ross on NBC's smash-hit hospital drama "ER." Seeing Clooney playing against type as a maniacal bad boy must have appealed to the mainstream, and the cinematic clout earned from the new indie classics "Pulp Fiction" and "Desperado" translated into an unlikely hit when "Dawn" staked its way into theaters in January of 1996.
With that success under their belts, Tarantino and Rodriguez had every right to think that the regular moviegoing public knew what a grindhouse theater was, and that they were familiar with 1970s exploitation films. "From Dusk Till Dawn...

This piece contains spoilers for "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery."
Perhaps one of the most obnoxious terms in the modern tech space is "disruption." It seems like every wannabe internet and crypto entrepreneur wants to call what they're doing a disruption in their respective spaces. Come on, guys, you can't all possibly be disrupting the same things. That's just not realistic!
In the world of "Glass Onion," billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) is certainly one of these types of entrepreneurs. He refers to his close group of friends as disruptors frequently throughout the film for varying reasons — for chemist Lionel Toussaint (Leslie Odom Jr.), it's because he's a genius who creates the science that fuels his Alpha Industries products, and for fashion designer Birdie Jay (Kate Hudson), it's because she "speaks her mind." Yes, "speaking her mind" means being racist on Twitter, because of course that's what it means.

Shortly after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksy’s impassioned appeal to Congress and President Biden to establish a no-fly zone over the besieged country, his administration released a new video in its campaign to rally more international support in its battle with Russia.
Ukraine’s head of the presidential administration, Andriy Yermak, has passed along a video depicting the devastation in his country 21 days after the Russian invasion began. Yermak, who serves essentially as chief of staff to Zelensky, gave the video to American director-producer Aaron Kaufman, who was recently in Ukraine filming a documentary.

After dipping her toes into the film acting pool with appearances in “Machete Kills” and “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For,” pop superstar Lady Gaga took on her first starring part in 2018’s “A Star Is Born.” The following year, she became the first actress since Gabourey Sidibe to be recognized by the Screen Actors Guild for her debut headlining role. Having landed in the current Best Actress lineup as the star of “House of Gucci,” she has now made history as the only woman to earn SAG nominations for both of her first two lead film performances.
Gaga’s competitors in this year’s Best Actress race are Jessica Chastain (“The Eyes of Tammy Faye”), Olivia Colman (“The Lost Daughter”), Jennifer Hudson (“Respect”), and Nicole Kidman (“Being the Ricardos”). The controversial stars have teamed up for a film made by Gibson’s girlfriend Rosalind Ross about the power of redemption
Like it or not, Mel Gibson’s professional rehabilitation is gaining momentum. Ever since his career exploded in a mess of drunkenness, antisemitism, domestic abuse and a string of genuinely horrifying voicemails, Gib has slowly set about clawing himself out from the hole he dug for himself. It started small, with bit parts in sequels like Machete 2, The Expendables 3 and Daddy’s Home 2. It picked up speed with his Oscar-nominated film Hacksaw Ridge, and then hit a pothole with Fatman, where he played a grizzled and embittered Santa Claus. And now it seems unstoppable.
Gibson’s upcoming projects include a CIA thriller in which he stars alongside Jason Isaacs, a John Wick spin-off series and a Lethal Weapon sequel that he also plans to direct. But before all that comes Father Stu.

As the visionary director behind high-adrenaline films like Desperado and Machete Kills, Robert Rodriguez was a natural fit for directing a Season 2 episode of Disney+’s The Mandalorian. So much so, that he’s now playing a much bigger role as director (of three episodes) and co-showrunner on the spinoff, The Book of Boba Fett, which premiered December 29 on the streamer. For his first foray into the Star Wars universe, Rodriguez wanted to make sure he wasn’t pushing his own aesthetic onto the franchise. “I wanted Boba (Temuera Morrison) to have his own language. I didn’t want it to feel like, ‘Oh, this is Robert stuff.’ I wanted it to feel like Boba stuff,” Rodriguez tells TV Insider. “I came up with a way to film him in a different way than they had been filming [The Mandalorian], to give him a different type of action and movement...

Robert Rodriguez’s hit new Netflix movie, We Can Be Heroes, gained some extra buzz for featuring the unlikely comeback of the heroes of The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl. But fans have been waiting for more from Machete for a long time now.

With the resolution of Johnny Depp’s libel trial against The Sun’s reference to him as a “wife beater” not being in his favor, public opinion might begin swinging back towards Amber Heard, with people now feeling vindicated in watching her movies again. On that note, ludicrous actioner Machete Kills, featuring one of her less frequently referenced roles, has just hit Netflix for your viewing pleasure.
Machete Kills is the sequel to Machete, which sees Danny Trejo return as the eponymous bounty hunter and former Federale. After a madman threatens to fire a nuclear missile at Washington D.C. to force the US government to take action against Mexican drug cartels, Machete is sent to stop him, which kicks off a truly demented tale involving multiple double crosses, corrupt law enforcement, a brothel madam with a minigun bra, an army of prostitute assassins, a reincarnating martial artist henchman and a shapeshifting hitman.

Even a cursory glance at the internet over the last week would make it pretty clear that Amber Heard is persona non grata within many subsections of the online community, with over a million people signing the petition to have her removed from Aquaman 2 and fans threatening to boycott the Dceu’s blockbuster sequel as they rally behind her ex-husband Johnny Depp.
In breaking her silence on the matter, Heard made it abundantly clear that she doesn’t care in the slightest what people on the web think, and even suggested that some of the campaigns against her are being bought and paid for by mysterious benefactors. Unfortunately for Netflix, they’re adding a movie to the content library this week where the 34 year-old actress plays a major role, meaning that a lot of people are probably going to avoid it.

It’s going to be another busy week for Netflix, who released the fourth season of The Crown today. As well as several new exclusive productions, though, the streamer also has some decent licensed content coming up and more Christmas titles as we head closer to the festive period. What, then, are some of the notable additions as Netflix move into the last few weeks of November?
Well, tomorrow brings Jeff Nichols’ critically praised drama Loving, which is about an interracial relationship in 1960s Virginia. Later in the week, subscribers can then catch up on or revisit the Danny Trejo-starring cult favorite Machete Kills, which puts the action star front and center. Viewers will also get the chance to see documentary Whose Streets?, and its exploration of the Ferguson uprising, as well as If Anything Happens I Love You, a short animated film dealing with parents and the loss...

November is among the least respected months on the calendar. Falling between objectively the two best holidays, November is usually all about recovering from the spookies of Halloween while getting ready for the good vibes the holiday season. For its new releases of November 2020, Netflix has decided to just go ahead and get Christmas over with.
Netflix has already released a list of all its holiday offerings for November and December, and it’s those holiday offerings that take the most prominence this month. The biggest project of all of these is undoubtedly The Christmas Chronicles 2, which premieres on Nov. 25. In this holiday sequel, Kurt Russell reprises his role as Hot Santa Claus who must save the season once again.
On the non-holiday side of things, Netflix’s Emmy-winning series The Crown returns for season 4 on Nov. 15. And speaking of things that desperately want to win awards, Ron Howard...

Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez may have vastly overestimated audience interest in watching two deliberately trashy B-movies back to back complete with trailers and an intermission, leading Grindhouse to bomb at the box office after bringing in a little over $25 million against a $60 million budget, but the one silver lining was that it led to the short-lived Machete franchise.
After decades as one of the most recognizable supporting players in the business, Danny Trejo finally ascended to leading man status as the titular federale in 2010’s tongue in cheek romp. The spinoff performed well enough to warrant a sequel, with Rodriguez stepping behind the camera for a second time out to take things in an even crazier direction in Machete Kills.
One of the major selling points of the first movie was the eclectic cast, and Machete is likely the only place you’ll ever see Steven Seagal, Lindsay Lohan...
