The CBS schedule typically looks about the same year after year. That's all changed for the 2023-24 television season because of the writers and actors strikes. None of the network's usual scripted shows are on the fall schedule. How will this alternate programming perform in the ratings for the 2023-24 season? Will CBS decide to focus more on reality shows moving forward? Stay tuned!

While The Challenge: All Stars 4 has yet to finish airing its episodes, there’s already pre-departure speculation for Season 5.
That includes who will appear in the cast of a revamped version of the spin-off that initially featured MTV OGs from Real World, Road Rules, and Fresh Meat.
Things changed slightly with Season 4, as Kam Williams became the first former Are You The One? cast member to appear on All-Stars.
However, All Stars 5 could feature cast members from other networks besides MTV, including CBS shows like Big Brother and Survivor.
Based on early spoilers for the potential cast, viewers could see two individuals return to the spin-off version of The Challenge after skipping the recent season of MTV’s show.
One of them is still vying for that first-ever win on the competition show, despite multiple attempts at the final, while the other captured a win as a rookie.

June is busting out all over, especially on streaming. Whether it’s hiding from the heat or taking a break from school and work, Disney+ and Hulu are here to satisfying your mid-year entertainment needs.
Disney+ will premiere the first new live-action Star Wars since 2023’s middling to “The Mandalorian” Season 3 and “Ahsoka” with “The Acolyte,” starring “Squid Game” breakout Lee Jung-jae. The series is set before the events of “The Phantom Menace” with a familiar master-padawan storyline but new characters and a new era where that dynamic unfolds. The streamer will also premiere various new options for kids and family-friendly programming, as well as new episodes of “Doctor Who” starring Ncuti Gatwa.
On Hulu, FX comes in hot for the summer, along with an adaptation of Candice Carty-Williams’s “Queenie,” the brat-pack documentary “Brats,” and yes — more “Love Island.” The TV and film library continues to shift with new and expiring titles,...

A background in D.C. politics just might be better preparation for Survivor than any wilderness training, at least former Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett had better hope so.
Lovett, the speechwriter-turned-Pod Save America regular turned up in a rather unlikely place last night: The preview trailer for the Season 47 installment of CBS’ Survivor.
Lovett was one of the new contestants revealed in the preview. “I have no outdoor skills,” he said, looking into the camera. “What am I doing here? I went camping as a cub scout. I threw up and went home.”
Watch the clip above.
Lovett was not identified in the preview, but his Crooked Media co-founder and former Obama colleague Jon Favreau pulled no punches, posting the show preview on X and writing, “What did I tell you? Eat Pray Lovett.”

When the universe offers a sign — and the sign comes straight from the lips of Nicolas Cage — you can’t ignore it.
That, in essence, is how 31-year-old guitarist Ben Katzman found himself on Survivor. The paperwork sat on his desk, but Katzman was racked with doubt. He’d already lost everything once: his band, his record label, his DIY community. Going on reality television seemed like a potential career suicide. Which is where Cage comes in.

The Survivor 47 cast now takes over the spotlight from CBS following an epic conclusion to the previous season.
Television viewers saw the Survivor 46 winner get crowned, and then it was time for the network to begin teasing the next new season.
It was tricky for a promo to get rolled out so early, especially because the Survivor 47 cast is filming in Fiji.
Had a live Survivor Reunion Show happened for Season 46, host Jeff Probst may have had difficulties pulling it off while filming the new castaways.
But alas, the Survivor Reunion Shows have vanished, replaced with a pizza party in Fiji, and players being forced to react immediately after the final vote.
Luckily, we all have our first look at the Survivor 47 cast, with the new players filming ahead of a Fall 2024 debut on CBS.

“Survivor” debuted on CBS as a summer program on May 31, 2000. Hosted by Jeff Probst since the very beginning, it is credited by many as starting the reality show craze that has been a major part of TV this century. After being on the air for two decades, 20 of the most iconic champions returned in Season 40’s “Winners at War” to compete in the first-ever all-winners season. Following a temporary delay due to Covid-19, the reality TV show continued with even more twists and turns, plus more diversity amongst its cast members. The next season of Survivor looks to have a familiar face, with former Obama administration speechwriter and Pod Save America co-host Jon Lovett seemingly among the contestants for season 47.
During Wednesday night’s finale of season 46 of Survivor, CBS’ teaser ad for the next season featured Lovett, although none of the contestants were named and there has been no official confirmation. Spoiler Alert: This article contains info on the season finale of Survivor 46.
It all came down to tonight’s finale to determine who in the Season 46 cast of Survivor would take home the $1 million top prize. A final Tribal Council was held, allowing the remaining players to plead their case for winning to the jury members.
The jury then voted for which player was the “Sole Survivor” to take home the show’s grand prize.
Tonight’s show saw Kenzie Petty as the winner of Survivor 46. Her friendly attitude served her well, as she beat her fellow final three contestants Charlie Davis and Ben Katzman by a vote of 5-3-0.
“Yeah, I got brought along on votes,” she told the jury in a spasm of honesty. “I’ll take it. I’ll own it. It’s true. I’m not going to say I drove a vote.”

That’s a wrap. Survivor Season 46 concluded on Wednesday night.
It was an epic season for the new castaways as 18 people competed for a $1 million prize.
There were no returning castaways this season, and there might not be any for a while.
Maria Gonzalez, Kenzie Petty, Ben Katzman, Charlie Davis, and Liz Wilcox made it to the final five.
Maria became the target after she sided with Q Burdette to get Charlie out. But the other four players went against Q and left Maria on an island.
Who would emerge as the winner from that group and get the jury’s support? Let’s take a look.
Who won Survivor 46?
Maria was eliminated at the final Tribal Council after Kenzie won the Immunity Challenge.
Ben won the final Immunity Challenge and took Charlie to the end.
Kenzie beat Liz in the Fire-Making Challenge to take that open spot in the final three.

Heading into the Final 5 immunity challenge on finale night, Maria Shrime Gonzalez knew that her game was on the line, and the only way to save it was to win the necklace. Unfortunately, the 47-year-old parent coach from Dallas never could have predicted that two of her fellow competitors, Kenzie Petty and Liz Wilcox, would team up at the challenge to take her down. Without the safety of the immunity necklace, Maria was a sitting duck at tribal council and was unanimously eliminated in fifth place.
Before Maria brought her torch over to Jeff Probst to be snuffed, her former teammates — Kenzie, Liz, Charlie Davis and Ben Katzman — all gave her a big hug and raved about her gameplay. Charlie referenced the ouster as a “big one,” Ben called her “Lieutenant Mom,” Liz told her she did a “great job,...

This season of Survivor has unquestionably become one of the most unpredictable and compelling in recent history. Four players have been sent home while holding an Immunity Idol, an unprecedented event in all of the show’s 46 seasons. To put things in perspective, only 26 participants in the entirety of Survivor history have been eliminated with an idol in their pocket, and this season has already contributed four to that tally. The sequence began subtly enough in episode 5, when Jem faced a deceitful blindside that left her sent packing with an unused idol. This set off a chain reaction,

A sneak peek from the Survivor 46 season finale shows that the game is about to get cutthroat.
Fresh off Q Burdette getting blindsided, the clip below features the final five players reacting to what happened.
To summarize, Maria Gonzalez and Q planned to blindside Charlie Davis, a castaway Maria had been working closely with in Fiji.
But Charlie was part of a different blindside plan to dupe Maria and vote out Q. The human smokescreen (Q) finally saw his final Tribal Council as a player.
Survivor fans will see Q again when he sits with the Survivor jury during the season finale. He also gets to vote on the winner.
Maria was on an island after that vote, putting her in a difficult spot as she tried to make it to the final three this season.

Survivor 46 ends his week and there are five people left who can win the show. Two of the final competitors have mostly controlled the season. The other three might be outside challengers, However, all five have a chance to win and only one of them will walk out as the champion.
Here is a look at who is left on Survivor this season and who we think will win it all.

We are moments away from the “Survivor 46” finale, and after a season of messy gameplay and no clear strategic frontrunner, it is confusing as ever as to who will ultimately win the title of Sole Survivor. In last week’s episode, “Mamma Bear,” one of the most visible, uproarious contestants of the season was eliminated, Q Burdette, leaving just the Top 5 contestants still in the game. Let’s break down this penultimate episode to determine who will come out on top in the final episode and where these remaining five players stand.
The week prior, many viewers were confused about Ben Katzman‘s stray vote for Kenzie Petty on what was a unanimous blindside of Venus Vafa and whether there was any strategic reason for it; turns out it was a moment of mental lapse after so many days in the game, but either way, it does not look good on him.

Survivor 46 revealed its final five on the latest episode, with Q Burdette getting eliminated in another blindside.
Earlier in that episode, Q found a Hidden Immunity Idol, giving him a clear path to the final five.
But Q decided he should save that Immunity Idol and became the latest jury member to be voted out without using his advantage.
This season, the Survivor 46 cast broke an embarrassing record, which might serve as a lesson to future casts.
Since Q didn’t play his Immunity Idol, his plan (with Maria Gonzalez) fell flat. Their votes for Charlie Davis didn’t matter.
Charlie barely survived the episode but did clinch a spot in the final five. And his family was extremely excited about it.

The second installment of Peacock’s reality TV show “The Traitors” absolutely exploded in terms of audience visibility and critical acclaim, and now producer Toni Ireland is admitting that she’s “really overwhelmed by the success.” As she explains, “One of the key things that we changed in Season 2 was to go for an all celebrity cast. We had a mixed cast in Season 1, which was brilliant and worked really nicely for us. But then we sort of changed to an all celebrity cast,” with many of them becoming “fan favorites.” Watch the exclusive video interview above.
This time around, the cast featured famous faces from shows like “Big Brother,” “Survivor,” “The Challenge” and “The Real Housewives,” plus sports stars and political leaders. In the show, which Ireland likens to a “murder mystery” and a “whodunnit,” regular players (the Faithfuls) must try to identify who among them are actually murderers...

As the longest running reality television series, “Survivor” has become a household name. Just think of the famous catchphrases. Who hasn’t said they wanted to vote an irritating person “off the island” or used “the tribe has spoken” at one punny point in their life? After three decades of filming, this year’s Season 46 is proving that changes to this season’s unique gameplay combining social, mental, and physical elements is the key to keeping the series exciting, highly discussable, and popular with viewers.

Now that Deal or No Deal Island Season 1 is over and the Banker and the season’s winner have been revealed, the exit interviews for the final four are showing up online.

Welcome to It’s a Hit! In this series, IndieWire speaks to creators and showrunners behind a few of our favorite television programs about the moment they realized their show was breaking big.
“It did feel like the Avengers assembling,” said executive producer Sam Rees-Jones of casting the first all-celebrity edition of “The Traitors” on Peacock. “We knew in Season 2 we wanted to assemble an all celebrity cast knowing that that would create a buzz as well, and would help build on the success of Season 1,” said executive producer Mike Cotton.
The pair, based in the United Kingdom, told IndieWire over Zoom that another key change for the second season of the reality competition series where “faithful” contestants try to weed out who among them are traitors before the latter steal all the money they earned from completing missions was changing the way in which the episodes were rolled out.

In this week’s “Survivor 46” finale sneak peek video (watch above), Maria Shrime Gonzalez is well aware of the fact that she’s “on the bottom” of the tribe following last week’s episode. Remember, Maria and Q Burdette wrote down Charlie Davis‘s name at the most recent tribal council, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the four votes toward Q from Charlie, Ben Katzman, Liz Wilcox and Kenzie Petty. After Q’s ouster, Maria returns to camp completely deflated, though she still gives credit where credit is due to the others in the Final 5.
“Liz, you finally got your wish, to vote Q off,” says the 48-year-old parent coach from Dallas. Liz had been gunning for Q for weeks, even before he failed to take her on the Applebee’s reward, which infamously caused her to have an epic meltdown at a challenge.

Some Survivor fans feel this is the worst season in years for smart strategy gameplay. However, there is one person who doesn’t agree. Instead, host Jeff Probst said that the game is harder to win now than it used to be. This comes on the heels of Survivor 46 setting a record for bad gameplay.
Here is what Jeff Probst said about Survivor and its difficulty, as well as how bad this season has gone for competitors.
Jeff Probst Believes Survivor Is Harder To Win Than It Used To Be
Jeff Probst has a weekly podcast called Play or Get Played. On this week’s episode, he talked about the shocking eliminations over the past few weeks. While many fans feel the gameplay is at an all-time low, Jeff believes there is a different reason for the current season’s struggles. He feels the game is harder than it used to be.

Survivor has made some controversial game choices over the years, but the most contentious one has been the shift in the length of the season.
Host Jeff Probst has addressed the issue a few times in the years following the shortened Survivor 41 season.
When the world shut down, they adjusted that season to be shorter to account for the time and cost of a two-week quarantine before Episode 1 began filming.
The production team adjusted the game and ensured it was still difficult to compete – despite having the castaways compete for 26 days instead of 39 days.
Having less food has been one of the big selling points of Jeff and his team, and hunger was a huge part of the Survivor 46 season.
Jeff again addressed the shortened seasons on his On Fire podcast as the latest season began wrapping up.

This time, it was Venus Vafa who fell victim to the notorious idol curse, delivering yet another unforgettable moment. Survivor deleted scene revealed what Q Burdette planned to eat as his first meal when returning home
Q Burdette had a plan for his first meal upon returning to his home from Fiji.

Charlie Davis had just won a meal of Chinese takeout food and invited Kenzie Petty and Liz Wilcox to join him.

“I didn’t miss it so much,” Q said about the Chinese takeout. “Because it wasn’t really getting, juicy, you know, shakes, or, you know, they didn’t have [mozarella] sticks and chicken wings and shrimp like I had at Applebess’s.

Survivor 46 set a new record this week. It isn’t a record that is a good thing, either, as it makes this year’s Survivor contestants look poor strategically. This record shows that more people have gone home in one season — who could have saved themselves — than in any previous season of the show.
Here is the new Survivor 46 record that was set which makes this season a little disappointing for many fans.

Survivor 46 is coming to an end with a three-hour finale. The two people who most expected to make it to the end are there. It seems that Charlie and Maria have manipulated most of the game and eliminated the people they deemed most dangerous. However, that makes the rest of the contestants’ gameplay look weak.
Here is what fans are saying about the latest season of Survivor.
Is The Survivor 46 Gameplay Bad?
This season, there have been a lot of people competing for things like Immunity Idols, but many of those people ended up going home at the end of the episode anyway. This makes little sense and it makes it seem like no one is playing the game with any sort of strategy in mind.
It seems the only two people playing strategy is Charlie Davis and Maria Shrime Gonzalez. They have worked hand in hand this entire season.

The legacy of the Survivor 46 cast is one of playing without advantages.
Survivor 46 had Hidden Immunity Idols, with some fun twists on how the players acquired them.
But the Survivor 46 castaways weren’t keen on actually playing those Idols.
Instead, many players wanted to keep those Idols hidden for an extended period. Even when they knew they were at risk of being voted out.
Many episode segments featured Idol holders speaking about getting through a particular vote and then using their Idol later in the game.
It became a running joke for host Jeff Probst that the chaotic Tribal Councils and smoke screens required him to have snacks and a relaxed setting to sit back and enjoy the mess.
