Prior to the immense success of television shows like "The Last of Us" and "Fallout," many audiences felt that video game adaptations were cursed. There were plenty of quick cash grabs and bizarre attempts at movie adaptations that just didn't work throughout the years, but one secret standout is the 2006 Christophe Gans film "Silent Hill." Based on the Konami video game series of the same name, "Silent Hill" follows a mother (Radha Mitchell) who goes into the uniquely haunted town of Silent Hill to try and rescue her adopted daughter, Heather (Jodelle Ferland). While the film isn't super accurate to the story from the games, it does capture the mood and some of the themes and completely nails the aesthetic, which can be half the battle with video game titles as visually recognizable as "Silent Hill." There's just nothing quite like its grungy industrial meat locker vibe and its delightfully disturbing monsters,...

There was talk that Brotherhood of the Wolf and Silent Hill director Christophe Gans’ new Silent Hill movie Return to Silent Hill, which is said to be “totally independent from the two previous movies,” would be having its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this month, but that’s not exactly what happened. What actually happened was that there was a private screening of the film for potential distributors. We don’t know how that went, but we are benefiting from the film’s search for distributors. The first image made its way online a couple weeks ago (that can be seen above), and now a teaser trailer has made its way online. You can check that out right here:

It appears that Konami will finally provide fans with an update on several Silent Hill projects this Thursday with a new edition of Silent Hill Transmission this Thursday. The streamed event will kick off at 7:00pm Et, with updates on the current projects, a “deeper look” at the upcoming Return to Silent Hill film from Christophe Gans, and new merchandise.
The previous Silent Hill Transmission back in October 2022 brought us the official announcement of the Silent Hill 2 remake from Bloober Team, which reposted Konami’s X post for this new edition, so expect news on that front. Silent Hill f developer NeoBards Entertainment studio creative director Al Yang did the same thing, so that’s two follow-ups from last time.
That would leave Annapurna Interactive and No Code Games’ Silent Hill: Townfall as the odd one out, but hopefully we’ll still get an update on that one.

Based on Michael Morpurgo’s 1982 novel of the same name, Steven Spielberg’s 2011 film War Horse received widespread praise upon its release. However, one notable individual that the film failed to impress is the original author of the story, Morpurgo himself, who later said that the film adaptation could have been much better.

The third installment based on Konami’s horror survival game, Silent Hill, is expected to release this year. The preview of Return to Silent Hill screened at the Cannes Film Festival and the new Christophe Gans-directed film will be adapted from the game Silent Hill 2. After a series of Covid-related delays, production finally got underway on the long-gestating Silent Hill "requel" last year in Germany, and a first official image from the movie has been released ahead of its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
The still (via Fandango) gives us a first look at a redesigned take on the big bad of the survival horror video game series, Pyramid Head.
Pyramid Head, also known as "Red Pyramid", "Red Pyramid Thing" and "Triangle Head," was introduced in the second game, and his distinctive visage has gone on to become arguably the most iconic piece of imagery from the franchise.
This new version of the character doesn't look a million miles away from the video game take, but the pyramid-shaped helmet appears to be winder and longer.
Check out the still at the link below.

Before James Gunn and Peter Safran were hired to take charge of DC Studios, a Green Lantern TV series was in the works revolving around Guy Gardner and Alan Scott.
The story was set to play out across two different time periods, deepening Lantern lore. However, while it was heading to Max, we expected it to be more in line with Titans and Doom Patrol rather than a big budget superhero series akin to those seen on Disney+, for example.
There was chatter about it tying into the planned Green Lantern Corps movie, though, and an impressive cast started coming together with Finn Wittrock tapped as Guy and Jeremy Irvine set to play Alan.
Now, Wittrock - best known for American Horror Story and All My Children - has broken his silence on being ousted from the role when DC Studios set out to reboot the Dceu as the Dcu.

Alberto Corredor's Baghead is the most recent example of "well, that would have been better as a short film." Mainly because, well, it is better as a short film. Corredor adapts the truncated version of Baghead written by Lorcan Reilly into the scattershot feature now on Shudder. New screenwriters Christina Pamies and Bryce McGuire struggle to extend the fifteen-minute original into an engaging hour and a half, especially during its bloated second act. Corredor crisply accentuates the mildewy and eerie atmosphere that saturates an outdated basement architecture, but by the end, falls victim to the usual follies that come with shorts-turned-features unable to sustain their big-screen treatments.

A new “Heroes” reboot series is in development from creator Tim Kring, Variety has confirmed.
The reboot, titled “Heroes: Eclipsed,” is set years after the events of the original superhero series, as new evolved humans are discovering their powers. Kring is executive producing “Heroes: Eclipsed” with his manager, Mosaic’s Jordan Cerf. Casting has yet to be announced.
“Heroes” ran for four seasons on NBC from 2006 to 2010, and starred Hayden Panettiere, Jack Coleman, Milo Ventimiglia, Masi Oka, Zachary Quinto, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Ali Larter, Adrian Pasdar and Greg Grunberg. Kring then worked on the 2015 limited series “Heroes Reborn,” with Coleman reprising his role as Noah Bennet. Zachary Levi, Robbie Kay, Kiki Sukezane, Ryan Guzman, Rya Kihlstedt and Judith Shekoni also starred in “Heroes Reborn.”
Back in 2015, while promoting “Reborn,” Kring teased the possibility of developing more storylines in the “Heroes” universe following the 13-episode event series.

Director Alberto Corredor expands his own award-winning 2017 short for this original British horror. In addition to delivering a steady flow of creepy chills, it also has significant franchise potential, and if that happens, sales of potato sacks are going to go through the roof come Halloween time.
Baghead is set in present-day Berlin, where cash-strapped 20-something Iris (The Witcher’s Freya Allan) inherits a large run-down pub, after the horrific death of her estranged father, Owen (Peter Mullan). The manager of her father’s estate is keen to offload the property, but Iris decides to stay, inviting her best friend Katie (Bridgerton’s Ruby Barker) to join her.

Baghead is the latest offering of rules-based horror. As in, the characters follow specific rules and maybe they can survive their uncanny predicament. Alberto Corredor’s first long feature, an adaptation of his own short film of the same name, wastes no time establishing the system in which his characters must struggle. Admittedly, the high concept here is convoluted and also not executed to its fullest, but the film still manages to brew up some creepy moments as well as deliver an intriguing, not to mention fearsome antagonist.
Freya Allan (The Witcher) plays Iris, the struggling protagonist of Baghead. After losing her apartment, Iris inherits her estranged father’s (Peter Mullan) pub following his sudden passing. Soon enough, the young heir is offered a fat wad of cash by Jeremy Irvine’s desperate and frazzled character, Neil, in exchange for access to the pub’s basement and the “woman” living down there.

The latest round of Outlander spinoff casting includes an Easter Egg for a subset of the book-loyal fandom.
Starz on Wednesday announced the addition of four roles to the forthcoming prequel, Blood of My Blood. Among them: Watchmen‘s Sara Vickers in the part of Brian Fraser’s mother (and, therefore, Jamie Fraser’s grandmother). The character is a housekeeper in the Lovat household, which is good and all, but we’re super into how she’s also named after someone many devotees of author Diana Gabaldon will recognize: Davina Porter, who narrates the audiobook versions of Gabaldon’s Outlander book series.

Outlander‘s upcoming spinoff Outlander: Blood of My Blood has already begun casting some familiar characters, which poses a big question: Will the new series include Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan)? In a universe that involves time travel, it seems like the door could certainly be open to the possibility, but considering this will be an original story not previously shared by author Diana Gabaldon, there’s no source material to reference for such Easter eggs. Blood of My Blood will chronicle the love stories between Claire’s parents Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) in World War I England as well as Jamie’s parents Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) in the 18th-century Scottish Highlands. Starz’s Outlander prequel series has cast younger versions of four familiar characters.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood, as the offshoot is titled, will explore the lives and relationship of Jamie’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie (played by Pennyworth‘s Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Condor’s Nest‘s Jamie Roy) and Claire’s parents, Julia Moriston (We Hunt Together‘s Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Treadstone‘s Jeremy Irvine). The series will center on these two parallel love stories set in two different time periods, with Jamie’s parents in the early 18th century Scottish Highlands and Claire’s parents in WWI England.
