The first trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux debuted during CinemaCon last month, giving us an intriguing glimpse of some footage from Todd Phillips' DC "Elseworlds" sequel.
In what would seem to be a major change to the usual character dynamic, the teaser revealed that Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) meets Harley Quinn (Lady Gaga) as a fellow patient(?) in Arkham Asylum, and it looks like she'll be the one asserting influence over him.
While speaking to Access Hollywood, Gaga teased her new interpretation of the popular Batman villain, who has generally been portrayed as more of an anti-hero in recent years.
“You know, my version of Harley is mine and it’s very authentic to this movie and these characters,” said the Oscar and Grammy Award winner. “I’ve never done anything like I’ve done in this movie before, so it’s all going to be completely brand new and really fun.

A little over a year ago, Showtime announced that they were ordering a series – then known as Dexter: Origins, now known as Dexter: Original Sin – that would serve as a prequel series to their popular show Dexter, which finished its eight season initial run back in 2013, then recently came back for a new season (called Dexter: New Blood) that appeared to wrap things up for good… for the title character, anyway. Now Deadline reports that Patrick Gibson of Shadow and Bone has been cast to play a young Dexter Morgan in Dexter: Original Sin, with Christian Slater (Mr. Robot) joining him in the cast to play his dad, Harry Morgan, and Molly Brown (Senior Year) set to play Dexter’s younger sister, Debra Morgan.

Todd Phillips may be blessed with a keen eye when it comes to cinema but his comments on Christopher Nolan’s universally recognized classic, the Dark Knight trilogy, is a scarily contentious opinion. But as sacred as Christian Bale’s DC outing may have been, there exists a limitation to the height of the pedestal that one is allowed to be raised to.
Batman Begins (2005) [Credit: Warner Bros. Pictures]With the passage of time, it may have become easier to cope with the withdrawal of Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece. However, it is with loyalty, dedication, and love that the audience time and again returns to the Dark Knight trilogy. This shows not only an instinctive pull towards the series but also an admiration unmarred by time or repeated watching.
The Spirituality of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy
It’s not every day that one can claim to live through the golden era of DC.

British royal family news shows that the Duke and Duchess of Excess, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, today wrapped up a three-day tour of globally challenged Nigeria.
During their time there they played polo-husband-and-wife, took selfies with confused school kids, and played chair volleyball in Abuja. Reports indicate that the greedy couple allowed (demanded?) that the government pay for their security costs.
Royal News – Meghan and Harry Treated Like Royalty
Going to Nigeria seems a curious choice for a couple of eco-hypocrites: reports indicate that in 2005 “Nigeria had the highest rate of deforestation in the world, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.”
Additionally, in 2010 “thousands of people were inadvertently exposed to lead-containing soil from informal gold mining within the northern state of Zamfara … upwards of 400 children died of acute lead poisoning … perhaps the largest lead poisoning fatality outbreak ever encountered.”

Scardino added that a lot of the comedy, which follows the exploits of a turn-of-the-millennium girl group who are thrust back into the spotlight decades later when a Gen-z rapper samples their pop hit, is sparked from the four stars’ incredible bond both on- and off-camera. “They have a joke that I have weekly meetings with their therapists,...

One of Penelope Featherington's most notable suitors, Lord Debling, sets himself apart in Bridgerton season 3 as a vegetarian who "loves wildlife." Here's why being one in the series already caught fans' attention.

Sam Phillips, who is best known for his notable role as Equerry in Netflix's The Crown, joined Bridgerton season 3 as Lord Alfred Debling, aka a part of Penelope Featherington's highly anticipated love triangle.
It is worth mentioning that Lord Debling is not a character from the novel, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, but rather an original role made especially for the Netflix series, which means the most that we do know about him came from Phillips:

The Beach Boys and The Monkees will forever be remembered as two of the best pop bands ever — even if they constantly get compared to The Beatles. During their peak era, The Beach Boys and The Monkees had the same number of chart-topping singles. One band managed to have another chart-topper years later.
The Beach Boys and The Monkees both evolved from bubblegum to psychedelia
The Beach Boys did very well for themselves in the 1960s. The Billboard Book of Number 1 Hits says they had three No. 1 singles during that decade. They were “I Get Around,” “Help Me, Rhonda,” and “Good Vibrations.” Those songs encapsulate the band’s pea period pretty well. The first two show off the band’s bubblegum/doo-wop side, while “Good Vibrations” is one of their prime psychedelic experimentations.

In the late 1990s Joker writer-director Todd Phillips, then applying his trade as an underground documentary filmmaker shot a non-fiction project titled Frat House, which nabbed the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary at Sundance before being promptly acquired by HBO Films.

The new spy thriller set during World War II entitled The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare has the unique distinction of being a somewhat true account of not only a pivotal mission during the campaign, but also of the germination of the character of James Bond – to a certain extent at least.
Ostensibly based on true events documented in recently declassified British War Department documents, the film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare imparts the tale of an organization created during World War II under the guidance of Prime Minister Winston Chruchill. As we’ve mentioned before in this series, horror threequels, or from any movie genre in fact, are notoriously hard to nail, in terms of quality. So, I won’t dwell for too long about which part threes have historically worked, and which should be pinned to the wall to rot like one of the Creeper’s victims. However, as we all know, dollar signs in the eyes of studio execs can be a dangerous thing, and if there’s a franchise primed and ready to be milked for all it’s worth, just one last time, those suits will make it happen. For better, or worse. Which, my dear fellow gore-hounds, brings us nicely around to a franchise that had much potential for multiple installments; Jeepers Creepers. And, yeah, I know what the title sounds like with my broad Northern England accent, so suck it up, haters. The first movie was a pleasant surprise,...

Cinematic universes may be on the decline, but Guy Ritchie has just stumbled upon the potential for a fun one with his frequently amusing “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare,” a light and sloppy World War II caper that reimagines Winston Churchill (Rory Kinnear) as Nick Fury, and a series of rakish, Nazi-killing brutes as his own personal Avengers.
Men on a mission films like “The Guns of the Navarone” might seem to be the more obvious points of reference here, but by the time Churchill is spitting orders at Ian Fleming (“Slow Horses” shitheel Freddie Fox), assigning real-life actress/spy Marjorie Stewart to some “Casablanca” cosplay with a sadistic Nazi commander, and waiting by the phone to hear if his top-secret wrecking crew has managed to sink the German ships that supply Hitler’s fleet of U-boats, saving the world merely seems like the set-up for the bigger and better...

It looks as though director Todd Phillips has officially finished Joker: Folie a Deux, with the MPAA officially granting it an R-rating for “some strong violence, language throughout, some sexuality, and brief full nudity.” On the latter, it looks like Joker is about to show us the full monty, doesn’t it? At any rate, the R-rating isn’t a surprise, as that’s what the first film got, and I imagine a PG-13 sequel would have landed with a thud, as fans expect this to be as hardcore and uncompromising as the original.
Here’s the poster:
But, what else do we know about Joker: Folie a Deux? Plenty!

Ever since the movie started shooting in December 2022, Phillips has been generous as far as images teasing the look of his Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck and Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn go. Here’s a moody early pic...

Joaquin Phoenix is set to return as the Joker in the upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux and fans are excited about the exciting direction that the film is going to take. The first Joker film back in 2019 showed the character’s mental deterioration amidst a crime-ridden Gotham City and the sequel is set to further explore this aspect along with Harley Quinn thrown in the mix.

Before Phoenix, Heath Ledger played the iconic character in The Dark Knight. Amazingly, both actors won Oscars for playing the same role, and Ledger’s co-star in the film Aaron Eckhart had an interesting take on why audiences are connecting to the character and the actors’ performances.

Daniel Mays remembers Michael Douglas and Timothy Van Patten, the respectively star and director of new Apple TV drama Franklin, bursting into song whenever he appeared on set.
It came about because during the Franklin shoot in Paris, director Nicholas Hytner asked Mays to star at London’s Bridge Theatre as good old reliable Nathan Detroit in an immersive production of the classic Broadway fable Guys & Dolls by Frank Loesser, Abe Burrows and Jo Swerling.
Upon hearing this news, Douglas insisted, ”You’re doing it, Danny — no question about it.”
The adaption of Damon Runyon’s tales was Van Patten’s father’s favorite musical, “so then within the hour, more like a whole bloody second, every time I came on set, they kept playing ‘The Oldest Established [Permanent Floating Crap Game in New York], and Michael and Noah Jupe would join in.”
Even the French crew got in the swing of it.

The trailer launch for “Joker: Folie à Deux” was no laughing matter for Warner Bros. The marketing for the studio’s upcoming DC sequel, headlined by Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, got off to a stellar start with 167 million viewers in its first 24 hours. The teaser trailer went online right after it debuted at Warner Bros.’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas.
Sources tell Variety that the “Joker” sequel’s trailer numbers and social engagement surpassed that of the first “Barbie” trailer to become Warner Bros.’ biggest launch in recent years. The release was no doubt bolstered by Lady Gaga’s massive 150 million follower social media footprint. The trailer instantly became the #1 trending video on YouTube on premiere night and currently boasts 15.6 million views and counting on that platform alone, where it remains the #4 trending video nearly two days after its launch.

During a time when the Dceu was struggling to satisfy the fans with their offerings, Warner Bros. sought the help of filmmaker Todd Phillips, who created Joker, the superhero blockbuster of 2019 that took the world by storm.
Joaquin Phoenix in and as Joker
Everything that the film had to offer during it’s run time was appreciated by the audience to an almost unprecedented degree since each scene was so exceptionally well-executed. And of course, just like with any other film, there were many scenes that didn’t make the final cut.
But in the past, Phillips revealed that there were more than what people expected, which they can also expect to never see with their eyes anytime soon.

The 2019 Joker film starring Joaquin Phoenix was a game changer for DC as director Todd Phillips created something unique out of the character that was never done before. Instead of the usual confrontation between Joker and Batman, the film focused on exploring Joker’s psychological deterioration in a crime-ridden Gotham City.

Debuting at Las Vegas’s CinemaCon – and online soon thereafter – the trailer for Todd Phillips’s follow-up to ‘Joker,’ the Best Picture nominee that won Joaquin Phoenix the Best Actor Oscar, blew up the internet late Tuesday night. The two-and-a-half-minute promo answered many lingering questions about the film.
As the title suggests, it’s very much about the mad love shared between Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck/Joker and Lady Gaga’s Harlene Quinzel/Harley Quinn. In DC Comics lore, Quinn starts as a psychiatrist who is then lured into Joker’s orbit; here it appears that she’s already one of his fellow inmates at Arkham Asylum when they meet.
Recent news leaks and some photos suggested that the film, which won the top prize at the 2019 Venice Film Festival, would be a “jukebox musical.” It’s still a little unclear just how much singing-and-hoofin’ Phoenix and Gaga will do,...

It’s a tale as old as Bat-time: an Arkham Asylum psychologist named Harleen Quinzel is driven mad by the Joker and she becomes the insane clown’s accomplice and oft-abused paramour. More recent takes on the character, especially in the comics, have seen Harley Quinn thankfully break up with the Clown Prince of Crime and become more of an anti-hero, but the upcoming film Joker: Folie a Deux is taking a more familiar approach to this dark “love story.” Sort of.
The first trailer for Todd Phillips’ follow-up to his hit 2019 horror flick confirms not only that the highly-anticipated sequel is heavily inspired by musicals but also that Lady Gaga is playing a version of Harley with a different backstory than the one first introduced in Batman: The Animated Series and later adopted by the comics.

Ever since the first success of the first Joker made headlines and broke the internet, fans of comic book films and of the titular character have been asking filmmaker Todd Phillips for updates on the second film in the series, which is titled Joker: Folie á Deux.
And just recently, fans got a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming film as the first trailer just dropped, and people are labeling it as a musical sequel to the original.
Joaquin Phoenix in and as Joker
Phillips knew that this was going to happen, which is why he claimed several times about how the film would follow the original narrative style from the first film, and that the musical element would just be part of the audience experience. But even after this claim was made publically, fans aren’t convinced of this.

Is it a musical? Is it not? That's been the big question on everyone's lips about Todd Phillips' Joker sequel, known as Joker: Folie À Deux. And the first teaser trailer doesn't exactly clear it up (Phillips on stage at Tuesday's CinemaCon event said he doesn't consider a musical but that music is a key element), but it's certainly full of tune-age.
More as predicted, the new film finds Joaquin Phoenix's Arthur Fleck in Arkham Asylum, and it's there he meets Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn – here not the traditional psychologist he ends up corrupting, but a fellow inmate (and something of a fan), who forms a love connection with our hero.
Expect twisted romance, songs, performances, violence and — yes! Steve Coogan too.
Joker: Folie À Deux will be in cinemas on 4 October.

Warner Bros. Releases ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’ Trailer at CinemaCon: “We Cast Gaga Because She’s Magic”
Like it was expected the first trailer for ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’ was released on this year’s CinemaCon during Warner. Bros. presentation. The trailer features Arthur and Harley falling in love, both with worsening mental health conditions. They want to escape together and they engage in various musical performances along the way, so it’s pretty clear, and this is undeniable proof that the movie will indeed be a musical. You can check out the trailer below:

The Clown Prince of Crime and Harley Quinn want you to know that what the world needs now is… love.
That’s the message of the first trailer for “Joker: Folie à Deux,” which sees Joaquin Phoenix reprise his Oscar-winning role as Arthur Fleck (who later becomes Batman’s notorious foe) and conspire with Lady Gaga as the equally twisted Harley Quinn.
The dark and gritty footage begins at the famed Arkham Asylum — where Joker is locked up at the end of the first film — as Arthur Fleck has a deranged “meet cute” with another inmate. After the chance encounter in the halls of prison, they fall madly, deeply in love and plan to break out of their straight jackets to take on the world beyond their padded cells. It brings them to the streets of Gotham City, where they manically dance and twirl around the city.

The first trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux brings together unites Oscar winners Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga for one of the more intriguing entries of the 2024 theatrical calendar.
Warner Bros. unveiled the look at CinemaCon, where Joker 2 is among the top titles theater owners were curious for a glimpse at — and for good reason. It’s a sequel to a $1 billion hit that earned Phoenix an Oscar, but is also taking a left turn by entering the musical genre.
But director Todd Phillips noted that in some ways it’s not all that different from the first, which also had music as a key element.
“We never talked about it like that,” said Phillips when asked if it was a musical. “I like to say it’s a movie where music is an essential element. To me, that doesn’t veer to far from the first film.” In the first film,...

During the Warner Bros. panel at CinemaCon, Todd Phillips addressed the crowd, saying that the response to 2019’s Joker blew him away. People said the film was “dangerous.” He’s thankful the movie wasn’t scrapped and became a box-office smash.
When he was making the first movie, he and Joaquin always talked about making a sequel, but they didn’t want to jinx it. They talked a lot about the pandemic, and that’s how it was born. But it’s a very different kind of sequel.
Phillips was a producer on A Star Is Born, and he and the writer always wrote this with Lady Gaga in mind. As far as it becoming a musical, Phillips said he never thought of it as one, but he admits music is an essential element. He said he always described...

Ready to head back to the rotten, filthy, violent cesspool that is Gotham? "Joker 2," aka "Joker: Folie à Deux" is the sequel to the box office smash "Joker," which saw Joaquin Phoenix win an Oscar for his dark-n-gritty take on the Clown Prince of Crime. Director Todd Phillips drew inspiration from Martin Scorsese pics like "Taxi Driver" and "The King of Comedy" to tell a moody, violent, very R-rated take on Batman's arch nemesis. The end result broke box office records and earned both praise and scorn. Some critics were impressed with what Phillips had conjured up, while others were downright offended. Audiences, however, turned out in droves, resulting in a film that grossed over $1 billion (with a b).
While "Joker" felt like a pretty self-contained movie that didn't warrant or need a sequel, those box office returns were too good for Warner Bros. to ignore. Phoenix, for his part,...
