The Morning Show has a knack for writing itself into a corner. “It requires a lot of junk food to manage the stress,” says executive producer Charlotte Stoudt. “Part of me was like, ‘Who is that season three showrunner? I have a few words for her!’”
As said season three showrunner, Stoudt is joking. She’s now running her second writers room for the Emmy-winning Apple TV+ series, which will shoot its fourth season this summer. “We’re still writing, still breaking story. We’re very much in the middle of it,” she says, thinking back to where she left her characters in the season three finale, and adds with a laugh, “We caused ourselves a lot of problems.”

Having over twenty years of experience as a reality TV star, and appearing in a few movies doesn’t make you an actor in the books of internet and social media users.
Early last week, “Variety” shared a list of this year’s participants in their “Actors on Actors” interview on Instagram, and a particular name among the list didn’t sit well with netizens one bit.
When the list comprising of, Robert Downey Jr. and Jodie Foster, Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig, Quinta Brunson and Jennifer Aniston, Elizabeth Debicki and Emma Corrin, Joey King and Taylor Zakhar Perez, and finally, Kim Kardashian and Chloë Sevigny, was released, netizens made sure their mouths were empty of water when they shared their disagreement with Kim Kardashian’s name appearing among the list of actors.

Peter Dinklage became a force to be reckoned with at the Emmys during his tenure as Tyrion Lannister in HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” with the actor winning four wins from eight nominations. The cast of “Game of Thrones” was so good, however, that many of them are still Emmys forces even after the show ended and they’ve moved on to different projects. Let’s take a look at the “Game of Thrones” alumni who could compete at this year’s Emmys.

Editor’s note: Deadline’s It Starts on the Page features standout limited or anthology series scripts in 2024 Emmy contention.
Typically a series five seasons in can show signs of wear and tear. However, for Fargo creator Noah Hawley a fifth time was a charm, not just in a stronger homage to the original 1996 multi-Oscar winning movie, but a deconstruction of current day red-state attitudes. For him, Fargo is about the tragedy that occurs when people fail to communicate, and this season centers around the varying definitions of freedom. Not to mention, it features several twists and turns one doesn’t see coming.
Season 5 follows Juno Temple as Dot Lyon, a housewife with a dark past who is mired in warring America, for Episode 1 tees off with a riot that breaks out at a school board meeting which results in the show’s protagonist tasing an officer and heading to...

When the first trailer for Transformers One rolled out (from outer space), the response from fans was mixed. The animation style wasn't what most expected, while Thor star Chris Hemsworth replacing iconic Optimus Prime voice actor Peter Cullen was always going to divide opinions.
Well, a "work-in-progress" cut of the movie was shown at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival yesterday evening and early word isn't just good, it's overwhelmingly positive.
"It is exactly what it has been described as - an origin story for how two young robots went from being besties to mortal enemies, ultimately known as Optimus Prime and Megatron," The Wrap explains. "The animation style previewed in the early trailer; a kind of painterly, 1980s lunchbox aesthetic, is very much present in the final film — all vibrant colors and shiny surfaces."
The trade describes it as "something joyful, beautifully alive," claiming applause broke out at several points in the movie,...

Exclusive: Shawn Ryan, whose thriller drama The Night Agent was the most watched TV series of 2023 on Netflix, has signed a big, four-year overall deal with the streamer, sources tell Deadline. The prolific creator, executive producer and showrunner landed at Netflix in a competitive situation, with his current studio home, Sony Pictures TV, NBCUniversal and Warner Bros. TV among those who pursued him, I hear. The pact with Netflix will start after Ryan’s current overall deal with Sony TV expires at the end of October.
With Ryan’s deal in place, I hear Netflix is proceeding with opening a Season 3 writers room for The Night Agent. The Sony TV-produced series has currently been picked up through Season 2, which ramped up quickly after the strikes to start production in early February for a launch later this year. An unfinished version of Transformers One was screened at the Annecy Animation Festival earlier today, and the audience gave it a rousing standing ovation. Although those who saw the Transformers One screening have been sworn to silence, the first reactions that have emerged paint a very positive picture.
Director Josh Cooley introduced the movie, saying, “I’m very, very excited. So much talent and nostalgic love has gone into this movie.” He also thanked the team behind the film as the “greatest animators and CG artists in the world,” while also giving a shout-out to Industrial Light & Magic. Turning to the audience, he added, “I want to thank you all for being ‘audience one.’“

Laura Peterson is out of Bradley Jackson’s life for good on The Morning Show.
Julianna Margulies, who played a seasoned journalist who fell hard for Reese Witherspoon’s Bradley, is not returning for season 4 of the Apple TV drama, Deadline has confirmed.
Margulies first joined the drama in season 2 as a former war correspondent who went on to host Uba 365. She and Bradley began a love affair that ended up hitting the skids when Bradley hid her brother’s involvement in the Jan. 6 Capitol attacks.
On June 6, it was revealed that Academy Award-winner Marion Cotillard is joining the show for a major arc across Season 4. She will portray Celine Dumont, a savvy operator from a storied European family.

Julianna Margulies will not be returning to Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show” for Season 4.
Sources tell Variety that the decision was made before the controversy stirred by a podcast that featured Margulies last year, and that she was offered a one-episode appearance in Season 4 that she turned down. The sources also say she has been asked about her interest in returning for a potential fifth season.
Margulies joined “The Morning Show” in Season 2 as journalist Laura Peterson, who becomes Bradley Jackson’s (Reese Witherspoon) love interest; the two break up early in Season 3, though Laura’s arc continues through the remaining episodes.
In November, while discussing the war in Gaza, Margulies made derogatory comments about Black and LGBTQ people, including that lesbian critics of Israel “offended [her] as a lesbian” since she played one on “The Morning Show.” She subsequently apologized for her remarks.

Director Josh Cooley took to the stage at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on Monday to introduce a packed screening of a work-in-progress version of Transformers One.
“I’ve got that feeling you get when you’re giving a present and you know they’re going to be excited about it,” he said.
He had gauged the mood to a T with the Annecy spectators – most of whom weren’t born when the last Transformers theatrical animated feature film came out in 1986 – going wild for the film.
Transformers One is billed as the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, who are now sworn enemies but were once friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of their native home of Cybertron forever.
Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry and Scarlett Johansson lead the star-studded cast, which also features Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne and Jon Hamm.

Is Fargo really Fargo if it doesn’t feature a cop (or two) with a heart of gold? While not all law enforcement is good in the FX anthology’s world, there was no questioning Witt Farr’s (Lamorne Morris) morality upon meeting him in Year 5’s premiere episode. Acknowledging the danger kidnapped housewife Dorothy “Dot” Lyon (Juno Temple) finds herself in, Witt steps up to try and help release her from the clutches of a bitter ex who is determined to be repaid for a “debt” he feels he’s owed. The polar opposite of Jon Hamm‘s sideways sheriff, Roy Tillman, Witt puts his life on the line for positive change. Appearing for a panel at Deadline’s Sound & Screen Television live-music event, Jeff Russo described how he adapts to Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley’s requests.
Noting several times that he adjusted the show’s music per Hawley’s ideas, Russo also addressed a cover of Britney Spears’ “Toxic” in the season. The revamped version accompanies Jon Hamm’s character Roy Tillman as he walks from a car to a barn where his men are holding Dot (Juno Temple).
“I get these phone calls from Noah,” Russo said. “It’s really funny. We have a great working relationship. He will call me and he’ll be like, ‘Okay, Toxic.’ I’m just quiet. ‘Uh, okay.’ Then he said, ‘No no no, hear me out. The walk.’ And I knew exactly what he’s talking about with the walk.”

Turns out, the one thing everybody gathered for The Hollywood Reporter‘s annual Drama Actor Emmy roundtable has in common is the fact that they’ve all lied to land a job.
“All the time,” jokes Nicholas Galitzine, of both Starz’s Mary & George and Prime Video’s Red, White & Royal Blue, when the question is first posed.
Fellow Travelers‘ Matt Bomer is similarly quick to confess. “I absolutely figure skate, I play ice hockey. Rollerblade. Yes, years of experience,” he says through laughter.
The lies vary, of course; as do the consequences. But all six of the men gathered on this April afternoon at the Georgian Hotel cop to at least one lie — and perhaps unsurprisingly, it rarely ended well. Jon Hamm spent the better part of the early ’90s avoiding calls from creditors. “The caller ID would come up and if it was an 800 number, it would immediately go to voicemail,” he says, reflecting on his humble beginnings during The Hollywood Reporter’s annual Drama Actor Emmy Roundtable.

Of course I’m good for it.’ ” Matt Bomer was in no better shape. When it came to delivering one of the most twisted and politically thrilling Fargo seasons ever, creator Noah Hawley says it didn’t entail him ripping up a ton of scripts to get there.
“I’m a big believer that the first idea is a good idea,” says the Primetime Emmy winner, “I trust my instincts.”
His trick: Plow through, no writers’ block.
Season 5 centers around Juno Temple’s Dot Lyon. While it appears she’s just a simple homemaker, she has a dark past that’s connected to Jon Hamm’s red state, criminal rancher, Roy Tillman. Not to mention, beware those who even try to murder her. Complicating life more is Dot’s notorious debt financing mother-in-law played, Lorraine Lyon, played by Jennifer Jason Leigh.
You can listen to our latest chat with Hawley below:

For this conversation, Kristen Wiig and Jon Hamm reunited only two weeks after appearing together on “Saturday Night Live” — Wiig, a regular on the show from 2005 to 2012, joined the Five-Timers Club as the host, and Hamm, her co-star in “Bridesmaids,” appeared as a special guest. The pair had plenty to celebrate: This past season, Wiig starred as a would-be socialite trying to claw her way into the in crowd on Apple TV+’s “Palm Royale.” Hamm also played a gleefully ambitious character for Apple, as an Elon Musk-type billionaire attempting to become a media mogul on the third season of “The Morning Show.” But an even bigger turn came with Noah Hawley’s “Fargo” from FX, where his devious Sheriff Roy Tillman runs roughshod over all those in his way — after making a very memorable entrance.

Apple TV’s flagship series “The Morning Show” returned last fall with its third season and with it comes the show’s best cast to date. Nicole Beharie, Jon Hamm, Tig Notaro, and Stephen Fry all joined the cast while mainstays Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Billy Crudup all turned in their best work yet.

In Season 1 of “The Morning Show,” Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup) is the cutthroat head of Uba’s news division who keeps his cards close to his vest and walks in and out of rooms grinning like a Cheshire cat. While his enlarged presence in the third season offers viewers more insight into the character, Crudup wasn’t quite sure what to think of it at first.

Comedian and director Jerry Seinfeld, 70, shared his thoughts on evolved perceptions of masculinity.
Seinfeld, who just released his directorial debut film Unfrosted, which is set in the 1960s, expressed his fascination with the “agreed-upon hierarchy” that he believes has been “vaporized” in the present day. He suggested that this loss of a clear social structure has contributed to the erratic and chaotic behavior he observes in modern society, such as aggressive driving.
“I think that is why people lean on the horn and drive in the crazy way that they drive: because we have no sense of hierarchy,” Seinfeld said in a new interview on the Honestly with Bari Weiss podcast. “And as humans, we don’t really feel comfortable like that.”

Last year, a bidding war was going down between Netflix and Amazon for a lucrative package deal. The two streaming giants were in a fight to acquire the film rights to the novella by Don Winslow called Crime 101. The package deal had included two attached stars — Chris Hemsworth and Pedro Pascal. Although, Pascal has now reportedly been replaced by Mark Ruffalo. It also has a director set to helm the project with Bart Layton, whose credits include the documentary The Imposter from 2012 and American Animals from 2018. Amazon had come out as the victor and according to Deadline, Saltburn and Masters of the Air star Barry Keoghan will now join the heist film.
Crime 101 is said to be a crime drama in the vein of Michael Mann’s Heat. The plot of the film has yet to be released; however, Deadline’s summary of the novel reads that “the...

Deadline reports that Chris Hemsworth is in talks to star in the long-awaited crossover movie between the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises, which was first teased in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. As we know, Hemsworth is already part of the Transformers universe as he’s voicing Optimus Prime in Transformers One, the upcoming animated movie about the origins of Optimus Prime and his future nemesis, Megatron.

At the close of the film, Anthony Ramos’ character gets a job offer from the Joes. Director Steven Caple Jr. told THR last year that while the studio was keen on the idea, it took almost two years to get everyone to sign off. “I had to talk to all the producers and...

“I was kinda disappointed originally,” admits Lamorne Morris about his character’s ending on “Fargo.” In our recent webchat he adds, “As an actor you want to be this hero with your shirt off and a six-pack. You want to be Denzel Washington, but that doesn’t serve the story all the time. The way this went down served the story.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.
“Fargo” is the FX anthology series created by Noah Hawley that was inspired by the 1996 Joel and Ethan Coen film. Each season takes a darkly comedic look at new characters dealing with life and crime in the Midwest. The series’ fifth installment tells the story of Dot, played by Juno Temple, whose normal life is disrupted when her abusive ex-husband, Sheriff Roy Tillman (Jon Hamm), discovers her whereabouts.
